Production for the third season of The Mandalorian has seemingly been put on hold and as it stands, we've yet to get ourselves any update about the project's filming which was first reported to begin last April. Other details about Season 3 are still being kept under wraps at this point but if you paid close attention to the epic Season 2 finale, you probably already have a gist of what to expect for the continuation of Mando's adventures in a galaxy far, far away.

Season 3 will most likely focus on the throne of Mandalore and Din Djarin's potential clash with Bo-Katan Kryze which was teased in Chapter 16. But apparently, that's not the only thing fans can expect from the show as a new rumor seems to suggest that the upcoming season will lay the foundation for the sequel trilogy and begin building the story of Rey Skywalker.

Following the reports that Daisy Ridley will reprise his Skywalker role in a future Star Wars project, the folks over at Inverse noted that the mystery project could in fact be The Mandalorian Season 3. The website suggests that a two-decade time jump could take place in Mando Season 3 which makes a lot of sense considering Luke Skywalker is still out training Grogu aka Baby Yoda. However, that means that Mando and his trusted ally will not be together for at least 20 years, something that will probably not sit well with a lot of fans.

Like it or not, it's something that was bound to happen at some point since the StarWars universe is pretty much connected. And when you think about it, the sequel trilogy didn't really explore Rey's backstory which has remained a huge mystery all these years. Should Season 3 of The Mandalorian actually "bring back" Ridley, it will be a hell of a crossover for sure though I'm not quite sure how haters of the sequels will feel about it.

The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to hit Disney+ in early 2022.
