Four months have passed since Gina Carano's controversial firing from Disney and Lucasfilm and the ex-The Mandalorian star still manages to generate a lot of buzz online. For the uninitiated, the former mixed martial arts fighter was axed from the company over her social media behavior that has been rubbing some people the wrong way for a number of months. As a result of her termination, Carano will no longer be involved in the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, and the status of her character Cara Dune still remains uncertain.
Not only did Carano lose her role in the Star Wars universe, but all of her merchandising gigs were taken away from her as well. Toy manufacturers like Hasbro and Funko made headlines days after Carano's ousting when they announced the cancelation of their upcoming Cara Dune collectibles despite the fact that they were already set for distribution.
However, in a stunning turn of events, Disney seemingly allowed Lego to push through with its upcoming The Mandalorian summer wave which hits stores in August. The said playset depicts the epic Season 2 finale in Moff Gideon's light cruiser and oddly enough, Cara Dune is still featured as one of the six Lego Minifigures included in the set.
Considering Disney was able to make use of its influence over the brands like Hasbro and Funko and pull out Dune's upcoming figures, it's a little intriguing why they seemingly gave Lego the pass. I'm guessing the company probably just let it slip since the wave which also includes other characters like Mando and Baby Yoda would be a sure-fire hit amongst collectors. But what if there's more to it?
Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 will hit Disney+ in early 2022.
