The Last of Us Part 2 ended up becoming the runaway winner at the recently-concluded Golden Joystick Awards and Naughty Dog's hit action-adventure sequel bagged the most coveted honor at the prestigious gaming spectacle, besting other nominees like and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Genshin Impact, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales

The hit video game won various awards, including "Best Audio", "Best Storytelling", "Best Visual Design", "PlayStation Game of the Year", and the top prize as "Ultimate Game of the Year". Naughty Dog was also hailed as the "Best Studio" as the awarding ceremony came to a close.

The game's creative director and lead co-writer Neil Druckmann accepted the award. According to him, it’s a pretty sweet accolade. In his acceptance speech, he said: "I’m not going to lie, this is pretty sweet. It's amazing to be in the company of such amazing games," expressing Naughty Dogs' love for "every single other game on this list."

Druckmann added: "I could not be prouder of this game and the team that put it together, and how we lifted each other up when we needed to," and that "I especially want to give a shout out to Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey, who killed it in more ways than one as Ellie and Abby. The game would not be what it is without your guys' contributions, your amazing performances." In the end, one of the game's key people extended his gratitude to "every single fan that voted for us. This being a fan award, you have no idea what it means to me and the team, and we will keep working hard to make you proud." Check out the full announcement here:

It isn't too hard to understand how the game managed to snag pretty much all of the major awards as fans and critics alike have been raving about The Last of Us 2 since its release last June. This incredible feat will undoubtedly give the team a burst of inspiration especially now that they are rumored to be working on the game's third sequel.

No official announcement about The Last of Us Part 3 has been made yet.
