The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's second episode made a shocking revelation about the super-soldier program and Captain America mantle. For years now, we've gone on to believe that there is only one Cap in the MCU and that is Steve Rogers but as it turns out, he wasn't the first person to take on the iconic star-spangled persona. In the said episode, Bucky Barnes himself revealed that a man named Isaiah Bradley was actually the first person to be given the serum and he has kept it a secret for decades.
Isaiah has been featured prominently in his own Captain America comic book run in 2003 but since casual fans are unaware of his existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's only natural that they'd like to know more about the character who had a pretty tragic backstory, being experimented on and tortured for years by the U.S. government.
Now, we still don't know when Isaiah turns up in the show but fans are hoping we'll get to see some flashback scenes highlighting his early days as Cap. And to rev up the Isaiah hype train, digital artist @britedit unveiled his awesome artwork depicting actor Carl Lumbly as Cap during his prime and I gotta say, seeing the image makes me even more eager to learn about Isaiah's brief history as the star-spangled man. Check out the fantastic art here:
We only have three episodes left in the series but it's safe to assume that we haven't seen the last of Bradley and it's possible that he'll once again turn up in one of the upcoming episodes. Hopefully, the showrunners of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier have dedicated an episode chronicling his glory days as Captain America as well as his epic clash with the former Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes, and that time he was experimented on by the government. That'll be interesting and compelling for sure.
The latest episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
