The finale episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier uncovered the mystery surrounding the Power Broker and as predicted by a lot of fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it turns out that the villainous figure responsible for the resurgence of the super-serum formula was none other than Sharon Carter who wanted to seek revenge after being abandoned and scorned by her former allies in the U.S. government.
Despite the "predictability" of her identity as the Power Broker, Sharon still left a lot of fans stunned during the finale's credits scene which pretty much confirmed that the former Agent 13 is up to no good, solidifying her as a massive threat in the MCU's fourth phase.
Now, days after Episode 6 dropped, actress Emily VanCamp is opening up about the jaw-dropping Sharon Carter twist and to her, everything about the character's new persona makes absolute sense. In an interview with Marvel, the Canadian star revealed her reaction after finding out the Sharon will be revealed as the Power Broker.
She explained: "When I found out that Sharon is, in fact, the Power Broker, it made perfect sense. It really solidifies what all of this means for Sharon. We're meeting this whole new version of her, and this kind of character, unfortunately, is the sad product of the series of events where she was abandoned and left to her own devices. It is very fitting that she was hurt and scorned and went rogue."
While I didn't exactly expect to see Sharon become the problem in the series, the character's current situation gives her the depth that was missing from her previous MCU appearances. For the longest time, Sharon was treated as a minor character who was "just there" and turning her into a villain may have been the best move for her story-wise.
The finale episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming Disney+.
