Warning: if you haven't seen the premiere episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, this article contains major spoilers so read at your own risk!

If ever you were thinking that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was all about hostility and explosiveness, you've got it all wrong as Marvel Studios' newest offering clearly has a lot of heart as well. While it isn't as emotionally-jarring as WandaVision (well, not yet, at least), the series top-billed by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will undoubtedly feature so much more than just hard-hitting, in-your-face action.

The series will follow Sam Wilson's journey to becoming the next Captain America with the general belief being that it was the United States government who is against the idea of The Falcon taking up the mantle. While that to an extent may be true, Episode 1 reveals that despite the fact that he initially accepted Steve's offer, it was actually Sam who is unsure of himself.

In "New World Order", Wilson made the stunning decision of turning over Captain America's vibranium shield to the Department of Defense and he made it very clear that he's not the right guy to take over from Steve Rogers. That's what he felt, at least. Little did he know though that the government had other plans for it than just turning the shield into a Cap memorabilia as the ending sequence of Episode 1 features the debut of a new "Cap" named John Walker which he saw go down first hand much to his disbelief.

Now, I wouldn't exactly fault Sam for doubting himself but Steve obviously saw something special in him which is why he was chosen to continue Captain America's legacy in the first place and not someone else. This entire ordeal will undoubtedly lead to Sam opposing the government with the conflict between them set to be renewed. Things are already heating up this early.

The debut episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
