Marvel fans keep winning and just two weeks following WandaVision's reality-bending finale, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finally premieres its debut episode, and right off the bat, I can confidently say that the highly-anticipated series starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan did not disappoint. The show brought in all the action we missed from the franchise and then some.

Episode 1 pretty much revolves around Sam Wilson's life-changing decision after he was chosen by Steve Rogers to continue Captain America's legacy. Things looked pretty promising in Avengers: Endgame closing moments when he accepted Cap's shield but as it turns out, Wilson is having doubts about his new role and by the looks of it, filling up Rogers' shoes is a task that is apparently just too much for him to handle.

We'll get into his stunning decision in another article but this time, let's focus on his "upgraded" mentor role which was explored in the first episode. For the longest time, Sam has served as Cap's righthand man but in the series, Sam finds himself in the role played by Steve as he now serves as a mentor to a promising young soldier named Joaquin Torres, played by Danny Ramirez.

The name, of course, rings a bell to a lot of hardcore Marvel fans as Torres actually becomes The Falcon in the comics after Wilson takes up the mantle of Captain America. Now, while it's too early to tell if Marvel Studios will actually follow the same storyline from the comics, it's safe to assume at least that Torres will be playing a major role in the show somewhere down the line.

The debut episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now streaming on Disney+.
