Marvel fans have long been debating as to who should lead the Earth's Mightiest Heroes now that the team's key members Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are gone. Now, given how stacked the current Avengers roster is, there are a lot of worthy candidates for the role like Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and even Spider-Man but as it stands, I believe we still have a long way in finding out which hero or heroes would end up filling Captain America and Iron Man's shoes.

Interestingly, Captain Marvel 2 executive producer may have an answer that could potentially put an end to the debate. In a recent interview with Marvel Entertainment alongside WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer, Livanos claims that Monica Rambeau has the qualities of a great leader.

Livanos explains: "Monica is a character who's incredibly optimistic, and empathetic, and unusually wise beyond her years. I think what we see Monica really do in WandaVision is rise to the occasion in whatever situation she is set in. She's an incredibly adaptable character and person who — I think I've probably said this before, but she's a leader among heroes, and she understands other people."

Now, while she didn't directly say that Rambeau would become the Avengers' defacto leader, reading between the lines, she's definitely dropping some hints that the S.W.O.R.D. agent has what it takes to lead the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the future given the opportunity. And while I believe that Monica would be a great leader someday, I think it's too soon to put her in that position as she's pretty much a newcomer and still has a lot to learn.

Meanwhile, Monica Rambeau will make her MCU return in Captain Marvel 2.
