In case you were still hoping that Johnny Depp could miraculously make his way back to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, we hate to break it to you as Disney looks to be very adamant about replacing Depp in the project which is reportedly set to be a reboot that will star The Suicide Squad actress Margot Robbie. It was initially thought that the project will be female-centric but apparently, that's not the case as Robbie could be sharing the spotlight with a familiar face.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), Disney is looking to add Jared Leto to the project. Of course, he and Robbie are no strangers to one another, having starred in 2016's Suicide Squad. According to Richtman's scoop, the two actors have remained good friends over the years, and the chances of them leading the new Pirates project are extremely high at this point. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet so take this one with a huge grain of sea salt.

The chemistry between Margot and Jared can't be denied so it shouldn't come as a surprise how Disney considering putting the two actors together once again on the big screen. We still don't know if this "relaunch" of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise would ultimately become a success considering how a lot of fans are planning to boycott it in support of Johnny Depp but hopefully, Robbie and Leto's star power is enough to draw viewers in.

The Pirates of the Caribbean reboot is in active development.
