I think it's already safe to say that Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy failed to hit the mark with longtime fans and critics of the franchise and there's a reason why Episodes VII, VIII, and IX aren't held in high regard just like the previous films that have come before it. Thankfully, Lucasfilm was somehow able to erase the bitter taste The Rise of Skywalker left in our mouths with The Mandalorian which is arguably the production company's current flagship series.

However, if you think Lucasfilm is ready to formally close the chapter of the sequel trilogy, you got it all wrong. Apparently, the production company is teaming up with LEGO for a brand-new Star Wars special that will take place following the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Titled LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales, the collaboration between the two companies are said to be "a seasonal celebration of the villainous dark side of the Star Wars galaxy — just in time for Halloween."

The official voice cast features Jake Green as Poe Dameron, Raphael Alejandro as Dean, Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt, Tony Hale as Vaneé, Christian Slater as Ren, Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8, and Matt Sloan as Darth Vader. Intriguingly, the sequel trilogy's main protagonist Rey (Skywalker) has been excluded from the upcoming project.

While the Mandoverse continues to prove that Lucasfilm can still get things right within the franchise, Mando and Grogu's adventures aren't meant to last forever and whether fans would be down with it or not, the production company will have to look into the future of the franchise. Naturally, the first step would be to acknowledge the aftermath of the sequels and what happens to Rey after Episode IX.

LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales will begin streaming on October 1st, only on Disney+.
