Star Wars: The High Republic Writers Reportedly Infuriated By Luke Skywalker's Return in The Mandalorian

Luke Skywalker's triumphant return in The Mandalorian Season 2's finale episode was the stuff of legends and it isn't too hard to understand how a lot of fans are still gushing over the Jedi Master's epic cameo which saw him singlehandedly obliterate every dark trooper in Moff Gideon's light cruiser.

This may come as a huge shock to a lot of you but apparently, not everyone was thrilled about Skywalker's show-stealing comeback in The Mandalorian. Even the works over at Star Wars weren't pleased with the comeback and for good reason. According to a report from John F. Trent of Bounding Into Comics, the writers of the recently released Star Wars: The High Republic felt frustration over the massive moment.

The reason behind it was they felt Luke's much talked about return overshadowed the new series of Star Wars books and comics which chronicles the saga long before Luke Skywalker existed. The report says: "Sources tell me that the Lucasfilm Story Group that has been heavily involved in the development of The High Republic is frustrated for several reasons. First, the reveal of Luke Skywalker in the finale of The Mandalorian's second season took all the oxygen out of High Republic. Who cares about The High Republic if they're all wondering what happens with Luke Skywalker and his new padawan Grogu (baby Yoda's revealed name)?"

Trent continued: "Worse, I'm told they're furious because they weren't informed about Luke Skywalker being the season send-off surprise. The people working on the High Republic had no idea that Favreau and Filoni would be driving the fanbase into hyperdrive just before they launched a new sub-property that is significantly different. This sort of explains why they struck out at the fanbase reaction publicly."

It turns out that Luke's presence, or should I say Force threatened the writers of The High Republic. Honestly, I don't see why they would feel that way and if anything, they should be happy for the renewed interest the franchise has been getting. It's quite immature but then again, this remains a rumor at this point so we'll just have to take this one with a grain of salt.
