The Star Wars franchise is experiencing quite the resurgence and just recently, the highly anticipated Star Wars: The High Republic was officially launched, kickstarting a brand new era for the franchise. Well, it's not exactly "brand new" as The High Republic chronicles the early beginning of the Jedi with several exciting stories presented through a series of books and comics.

Now, to further understand how things will play out in this new world we're all still unfamiliar with, the sci-fi franchise has released an animated short introducing fans to one of The High Republic's main characters. Vernestra Rwoh is one of the new personalities featured in the stories and she's unlike any other Star Wars character we've seen before.

According to the vibrant animated short, Vernestra passed her Jedi trials at the age of 15, becoming one of the youngest Jedi Knights in the Republic's storied history. Vern may still be inexperienced, but the Jedi Council sees a lot of promise in her. Check it out here:

It's a smart move on their part to uncover ancient Star Wars stories that took place long before the Skywalker saga. This provides the entire franchise with a tremendous amount of opportunity to truly expand the universe and tell new stories without having to compromise the current canon. And while yes, our eyes should be looking towards the future, revisiting the past isn't that bad of an idea.

Star Wars: The High Republic's novels and comics are now on sale on Amazon.
