Dave Filoni is one of the unsung heroes of the Star Wars franchise and thanks to people like him, the entire universe gained new attention with the success of The Mandalorian, a show he oversees along with creator Jon Favreau. Given Filoni's experience in the franchise, a lot of people are convinced that he could easily take the reins from Kathleen Kennedy when she decides to step down as Lucasfilm President.

This is why a lot of Star Wars fans were delighted after learning that Filoni has apparently been promoted to an executive role over at Lucasfilm but apparently, it's considered old news, and the director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been in his new role of Executive Creative Director for quite some time now.

As it turns out, it took quite a while for Filoni's new role to reflect on his updated profile over at Lucasfilm's official website. Speaking with IGN, Lucasfilm confirmed that Dave's new role in the company isn't exactly a new promotion. "Dave has been serving as Executive Producer/Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm for quite some time now," a Lucasfilm spokesperson clarified. "We simply updated our website. Nothing has changed with his current and future projects. He is busier than ever in a galaxy far, far away!"

While Filoni is still lightyears away from becoming Lucasfilm's main man, there's no denying that he's one of the most qualified and deserving individuals to lead the production company in the future. It's written in the stars for sure and when that time comes, I'm sure fans wouldn't have a problem with him taking over.

Meanwhile, production for The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to begin soon.
