The fact that Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley has yet to land a comic book movie role still remains a mystery to a lot of fans myself included simply because a star of her caliber would easily be a great fit in either the Marvel Cinematic Universe or DC Extended Universe. Still, fans of the 29-year-old British star aren't holding out hope that the Rey actress will end up in another high-profile franchise in the near future.
Even Ridley herself expressed her desire to play a superhero character on the big screen after rumors of her playing Spider-Woman in Sony Pictures' spin-off project surfaced online. Now, considering she's pretty much free these days given the fact that she has concluded her Star Wars stint, it almost feels criminal that studios have yet to reach out to her for a possible project.
Digital artist @apexform has also joined the campaign to get Daisy cast as Jessica Drew in Sony's own Spider-Man film universe by unveiling an impressive artwork depicting her as the female version of Marvel's flagship superhero and I gotta say, she would actually kill it as Spider-Woman given the opportunity. While it's still early to say what happens next in Daisy's career post-Star Wars, I believe that it's only a matter of time before she ends up landing a role in another franchise and studios like Warner Bros., Marvel Studios, and Sony Picture for that matter would be foolish not to cast her in a comic book film project. It just feels right if we're being honest.
Meanwhile, details about Sony's Spider-Woman project are still being kept under wraps.
