Spider-Man: MCU Rumor Suggests Peter Parker Will Be Forced to Kill [SPOILERS]

Tom Holland's outing as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a success so far but in my view, we've yet to see him in a high-stakes situation that doesn't involve any of his Avengers teammates. Since his debut in Captain America: Civil War, MCU's Spidey has always been linked to Tony Stark and in every film that he's been a part of (that includes his standalone flicks), the character's central conflict always seemed to revolve around Iron Man which in my book, has never benefited Parker.

However, things could be changing in Phase 4 and Spider-Man may be in for some serious and personal threat. According to a new report from the folks over at We Got This Covered, Spider-Man 3 will tease the transformation of Ned Leeds from Peter Parker's best friend to the menacing Hobgoblin. According to their intel, Ned would lose his family from an accident (presumably during a heated battle between Spider-Man and one of his foes) and he'll hold Peter accountable for it. Now, it's worth noting that the upcoming MCU film is set to cast a Filipina actress to play Ned's relative so that could be the beginning of the setup.

Naturally, when Ned officially becomes Hobgoblin, he'll wreak havoc in the neighborhood and this could resort to Peter being forced to kill his best buddy. That sounds pretty tragic but if you'd ask me, this is what Tom Holland's version of the web-slinger needs.

This, of course, is just a rumor for now so as always, take it with a grain of salt but it wouldn't be too farfetched to believe that Ned is poised to become Peter's next big nemesis. Jacob Batalon recently stunned fans with his body transformation and it led a lot of people to believe that he's preparing to become the MCU's Hobgoblin. Of course, Ned wouldn't exactly be deemed as a threat with his previous physique so it's only natural for him to shed some pounds.

Spider-Man 3 has begun production.
