A lot of mystery surrounds the upcoming third MCU Spider-Man flick ahead of its filming this week but all intrigue aside, it's definitely shaping up to be the biggest superhero crossover film of all time, maybe even bigger than the Avengers just for how promising and ambitious it looks on paper. Of course, we all know by now that Tom Holland will be joined by Jamie Foxx who reprises his Electro role, and Doctor Strange himself Benedict Cumberbatch who will serve as Peter Parker's new mentor but allegedly, the surprises don't stop there.
Rumors have been swirling all over the internet that the first two actors to play the iconic Marvel hero on the big screen, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are in talks with Marvel and Sony for the project. Now, a new development suggests that both Tobey and Andrew are in fact involved in it and have signed on for the film. FandomWire's exclusive scoop claims that the actors will appear at the same time during the film's final act to help Holland battle his foes.
No official confirmation has been made as of writing so of course, take everything with a grain of salt but considering Spider-Man 3 is set to begin filming on October 16, the news we've all been waiting for could finally be announced sooner rather than later. Again, it looks like Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are beyond determined to turn this upcoming MCU project into quite possibly the biggest superhero film we've seen to date and it's definitely a huge win for the entire Spider-Man fandom who have long been clamoring for a live-action Spider-Verse film. And just as stoked as a lot of you are.
Spider-Man 3 is expected to hit cinemas in 2021.
