I think it's pretty safe to say that out of all the upcoming superhero projects hitting the big screen in the coming months, comic book film fans are most excited to see Spider-Man: No Way Home, and for good reason. The film is described by Tom Holland himself as the most ambitious superhero film ever made and judging by the stuff we've seen from the trailer so far, it seems like the actor raises a pretty valid argument.

The film is currently slated for a December 2021 release and while we're still months away from its premiere, a new rumor suggests that there's a strong chance that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures could delay its theatrical debut.

According to the latest scoop from Hollywood insider Grace Randolph, Sony Pictures who mostly calls the shots on the marketing for the MCU film could end up pushing back Spider-Man: No Way Home's release date from December 2021 to possibly Spring 2022. Randolph also notes that Venom: Let There Be Carnage, another Sony production that has already experienced several delays could suffer the same fate.

As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed regarding the rumored delay. However, given the current pandemic situation the entire world is still dealing with, it's pretty understandable how Marvel and Sony could end up delaying the film's release regardless of how frustrating that sounds. I mean, dropping Spider-Man: No Way Home in the middle of the COVID-19 situation will most definitely hurt its box office chances. And let's be honest, the film has massive potential to be an even bigger comic book film event than Avengers: Endgame, and we fans totally deserve to see it in a packed cinema.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be released in cinemas on December 17, 2021.
