Marvel Studios' Iron Man 3 sure had something going with its portrayal of The Mandarin but when it was later revealed during the latter part of the film that the "Mandarin" they featured wasn't exactly the real deal and just an actor named Trevor, it ultimately became one of the biggest letdowns in Marvel Cinematic Universe history. Now, Kevin Feige and his crew have the chance to finally correct their previous mistakes as Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings will introduce the "real" Mandarin.
As for Trevor, we haven't seen the MCU character since Iron Man 3's "divisive" reveal but to those wondering if he'll eventually make his return to the franchise after all these years, then we have some good (or probably not-so-good) news for you.
Apparently, the upcoming Phase Four flick starring Simu Liu will mark the jaw-dropping return of "fake" Mandarin Trevor Slattery as confirmed by the studio itself during Shang-Chi's world premiere in Los Angeles (via Brandon Davis). In fact, actor Ben Kingsley appeared at the red carpet event much to the shock of Marvel fans in attendance and on social media.

We still don't know what type of role the actor will play in Shang-Chi but it's safe to assume at this point that Kingsley will once again serve as comic relief in the film. This is all just a product of my wild imagination but what if Trevor actually becomes a real villain and joins the Ten Rings to seek revenge against the Starks for exposing him? Sure, Tony is already gone but that's not to say that Trevor doesn't have any targets left. I think that will be an interesting story but it's all just wishful thinking.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on September 3, 2021.
