Ms. Marvel Co-Creator Pleased with Iman Vellani Casting

After a full year of anticipation and speculation, Marvel Studios finally let the cat out of the bag and revealed the actress who will play Kamala Khan in the upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Newcomer Iman Vellani has been given the "marvelous" honor as well as the unenviable task of giving life to the character which draws huge inspiration from Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

One of the comic book hero's creators G. Willow Wilson expressed her excitement over the announcement on her official Twitter. "I guess the news is out. Congrats, Iman!" she wrote. She would then follow it up by saying that the newbie actress is the real deal. That's quite the endorsement right there! Check out her tweet below:

It's safe to say that Willow, along with her co-creators Sana Amanat, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie, to an extent were involved in choosing the live-action version of Khan, hence Willow expressing how pleased she was with the casting choice Marvel Studios ultimately went with. Meanwhile, Iman took to Instagram to celebrate the exciting news. After the announcement was made, her social media following immediately blew up and Iman already has over 18,000 followers on Instagram as of writing. She wrote: "Speechless and excited! Wish me luck."

Marvel Studios introducing Ms. Marvel to their shared universe this early could come as a shock to longtime comic book fans but it's actually a smart move despite the fact that she's not as established as the other Marvel superheroes they have on their current MCU roster. Besides Spider-Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe lacks that youthful character younger fans could relate to, and bringing Kamala Khan in gives children an inspirational figure that they can all actually look up to. I'm totally pumped for this series!

Ms. Marvel is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2022!
