It can be argued that Amber Heard became a household name in the entertainment industry for all the wrong reasons but you also can't deny the fact that she has played an effective female antagonist in the DC Extended Universe. Following the unprecedented success of Aquaman which still currently holds the record as the only DCEU film to earn 1 billion dollars at the box office, a sequel was immediately greenlit with Heard set to reprise her role as Mera.

However, the controversies surrounding Heard's personal life aren't doing her any favors and despite the surprising positive reaction her Snyder Cut role received, her spot in the franchise reportedly still remains in jeopardy if she loses her next trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Now, a new report from insider Daniel Richtman indicates that the actress is currently fighting for her spot in Aquaman 2. The oftentimes reliable tipster claims that Amber is asking Warner Bros. to give Mera more exposure in the sequel. It's worth noting that previous rumors have suggested that Heard could get replaced by a new female character in the film if her legal battle with Depp goes south.

It remains unclear whether or not Amber stays in the DCEU for long and while other people are okay with the idea of her continuing her stint as Mera and distinguishing her personal life from her professional career, there will always be fans who are against it and if anything, they'd like to see the actress suffer the same fate as Johnny Depp who virtually lost all of his high-profile projects.

Aquaman 2 is scheduled to begin filming this Summer.
