Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill has been in the center of controversy as of late amid the growing intrigue regarding his true DC Extended Universe status. The entire fandom is under the impression that Warner Bros. is quietly letting go of the British actor to make way for the studio's recently announced Superman reboot produced by Star Wars director J.J. Abrams. Although the project has been confirmed to take place outside the DCEU, it still came as a shocker to a lot of people who have been clamoring to see Cavill return for his long-overdue solo Superman sequel.

For the longest time, Henry has chosen to ignore all the rumors. However, the star of Netflix's The Witcher has seemingly had enough and finally addressed the speculation surrounding his personal life and professional career. In a lengthy social media post, Cavill pointed out that people who spread rumors about him have affected the people he loves, claiming that their "passion" is misplaced.

Cavill's post also seems to indicate that everything is going well in his career despite what the dirt sheets have been spreading over the last couple of weeks. Pleading with his fans, he wrote: "I am very happy in love, and in life. I'd be enormously grateful if you were happy with me. If you can't bring yourself to be happy with me, then at the very least try to do yourself proud and be the best version of yourself."

Although he didn't directly address his future as the DCEU's Man of Steel, Cavill's declaration is still pretty promising and it just might put to rest all of the speculations about his real working relationship with DC Films and Warner Bros. Hopefully, this will all lead to the much-awaited announcement of Man of Steel 2 finally moving forward after years of being stuck in developmental hell. Despite all the uncertainty, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll still get to see that project. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens next.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill will return for Netflix's Enola Holmes sequel
