Wired reports that the new Star Wars game which is set to usher in a new era in the franchise's gaming universe will be overseen by creative director Julian Gerighty of The Division 2 and The Crew fame. It is also said to make use of Massive Entertainment's Snowdrop engine but aside from that, other details about the upcoming title have yet to be disclosed.

Disney's SVP of Global Games and Interactive Experiences Sean Shopstaw clarified that even though Electronic Arts which has been home to several Star Wars titles, most notably Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Squadrons won't be directly involved in the creation of the new game, the company will still be an integral part of the sci-fi brand's gaming universe.

The possibilities are endless for this new game but it's still a little too early to tell how things will play out. While the new project still remains a mystery, it's worth noting that a video game adaptation of The Mandalorian has been heavily rumored since last year. Could this be a sign that we're finally going to get Din Djarin and Baby Yoda in standalone video game form? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, for your Star Wars fix, all episodes of The Mandalorian are available on Disney+.
