With a long list of superheroes and supervillains under its belt, one would think that Marvel Studios would choose to capitalize on its comic book roster to save them the hassle of trying to establish new characters.
While we've seen the studio pull lesser-known characters from its vault over the years, Kevin Feige and his crew surely aren't afraid of creating new characters they believe would fit the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a tee.
Speaking of, you would be shocked to learn that one of Loki's show-stealing characters isn't actually based on the Marvel comics. The bizarre yet lovable reptilian variant of the God of Mischief aka "Alligator Loki" was a completely original creation intended for the show.
In a recent conversation with Marvel.com, the show's head writer Michael Waldron said that there's no deep meaning behind the creation of the character other than the fact that the ferocious animal shares Loki's iconic colors. He explains: "We were talking about [how] we want to meet many different versions of Loki in this show. I was just like, there should be an Alligator Loki. And it's like, well, why? Because he's green."

Alligator Loki's stint in the MCU may have been short-lived but the character ended up becoming a show-stealer thanks to how odd the idea of a reptile version of Loki is. Unsurprisingly, it worked. I mean, if we can have a frog version of Thor himself, then there's no way an alligator Loki wouldn't be believable. I gotta say though, it's a damn shame we didn't see an encounter between Frog Thor and Alligator Loki. That would've been all sorts of hilarious.
