Things just got extra crazier in the fifth episode of Marvel Studios' Loki and boy, there's definitely a lot to unpack. Befitting of its title "Journey Into Mystery", Episode 5 finally gave fans a definitive answer to the mystery surrounding the variants and what actually happens to the unlucky ones who get pruned by the Time Variance Authority.

Apparently, instead of actually dying, they are sent to an eerie wasteland called the Void situated at the "end of time" and that's where the God of Mischief found himself after being pruned by Ravonna Renslayer in the previous episode. Much to his astonishment, he meets various iterations of himself that look nothing like him.

Episode 5 also changes everything we thought we knew about variants because as it turns out, besides Loki, Sylvie, and the aforementioned version of Loki, there are several other variants of the God of Mischief that have been wreaking havoc within the sacred timeline and they all suffered the same fate of being dumped into the Void.

One of them includes President Loki but despite all the hype surrounding the character, his involvement in the series was short-lived, to say the least.

President Loki sure made a grand entrance in Episode 5 but that's pretty much it. He didn't really contribute to developing the ongoing story and as it turns out, he was just there to deliver some fan service. Unsurprisingly, viewers felt let down by the character as they surely thought he'd make an impact in the show. Check out the reactions here:

It sure feels a little disappointing how President Loki didn't add much to the show's plot but I guess we're already dealing with enough problems in the series.

Now, with only one week left until the finale premieres, it'll be interesting to see what happens to our favorite Loki variants and if it actually has some serious ramifications that will affect that current MCU timeline.

The latest episode of Loki is now streaming on Disney+.
