There's been a lot of speculation about Loki's sexuality in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but all of that was finally laid to rest earlier this month when a teaser for Tom Hiddleston's standalone Loki series dropped hints that the God of Mischief may be gender-fluid in the franchise. Now, there's a lot to unpack in the latest episode of the hit Disney+ show but what generated the most buzz is the confirmation that Loki is actually bisexual.

The revelation about Laufeyson's true sexual orientation wasn't directly addressed in the episode titled "Lamentis". In fact, it happened ever-so-casually during a blink-and-you'll-miss-it sequence between him and Sylvie. While the two were having a deep conversation about the true meaning of love, Loki casually opened up about his past relationships and revealed that he's had to romance with both men and women.

Following the internet-breaking moment, director Kate Herron took to Twitter to confirm that it's always been her plan to make Loki's bisexuality canon to the MCU. In an emotional tweet, she wrote: "From the moment I joined @LokiOfficial it was very important to me, and my goal, to acknowledge Loki was bisexual. It is a part of who he is and who I am too. I know this is a small step but I'm happy, and my heart is so full, to say that this is now Canon in #mcu."

Loki has been an MCU regular for about a decade now but not once did we see him paired with a love interest. Now, with this new development about the God of Mischief's character, the creative path Loki will take moving forward will be hella interesting. Of course, there's also a possibility that Loki's sexuality reveal is just a one-off to celebrate Pride Month but I doubt Marvel Studios will go that cheap route. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how everything plays out.
