Warning: if you haven't seen the debut episode of Loki, this article contains spoilers so read at your own risk!

The God of Mischief is officially back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and this time around, he's not out to wreak havoc into the world. Instead, Loki is set to play hero as he will be responsible for restoring the sacred timeline which he ruined in the first place after he stole the Tesseract following the battle of New York. The premiere episode of Marvel Studios' Loki started off with a huge bang and right off the bat, the show explains how everything is in peril now that the timelines have been altered.

The series begins with Loki foiling Tony Stark's plan of retrieving the Tesseract and bringing it to the future, something that apparently wasn't supposed to happen. After he escapes New York with the Space Stone, Thor's evil stepbrother finds himself in Mongolia but just when he thought he was finally free from the clutches of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Minutemen "arrests" Loki and takes him to the Time Variance Authority.

Loki later meets Mobius M. Mobius (played by Owen Wilson) who briefly explains to him how things work within the multiverse and just how crucial his theft of the Tesseract actually is. Being the master trickster that he is, Loki was able to outsmart the TVA and he heads back to Casey in an attempt to steal back the Space Stone and escape the TVA facility. Much to his surprise, he stumbles upon a drawer full of Infinity Stones that have apparently been retrieved from several "variants" just like him.

What's even more shocking is the revelation that the said stones can't affect anything inside the TVA which explains why Loki wasn't able to use the powers of the Space Stone despite possessing them. Interestingly, it wasn't revealed which characters the TVA got the stones from but this new bit of information tells you that a lot of beings have committed timeline "crimes" in the past.

Loki's story just started and things are already beginning to heat up. Despite the fact that Episode 1 brought a lot of confusion, I still enjoyed every bit of it and I'm totally down to see Loki's redemption arc. The real question is, will he be able to fully embrace his new "heroic" persona and help the TVA or will he just go back to his usual mischievous ways? I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Loki is now streaming on Disney+.
