Loki Episode 1 Rumored to Have Snuck in a Peggy Carter Cameo

The first episode of Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated standalone Loki series finally premiered yesterday and it's already shrouded by mystery and a whole lot of intrigue. Unsurprisingly, Marvel Cinematic Universe "conspiracists" have once again surfaced online in search of possible clues, references, and easter eggs that could potentially set up the future of the franchise.

And true to form, the eagle-eyed MCU detectives may have actually spotted a jaw-dropping bit in Episode 1. During the sequence where Loki is trying to escape the clutches of the Time Variance Authority's Minutemen, a woman, presumably, a "variant" can be seen being taken in the facility by one of the TVA's agents. The woman in question featured in the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment seems to share a striking resemblance to Peggy Carter and many viewers are convinced that it is in fact her.

The said person does look a lot like Peggy from afar but it's hard to tell if it's in fact Steve Rogers' love interest considering the camera wasn't focusing on her. Now, if by any chance the series ends up revealing that it was actually Peggy herself, the real question is, how in the world did she end up being arrested by the TVA? Is it a version of Peggy from an alternate timeline or was it the same Agent Carter Captain America went back in time to be with? For now, everything's still a blur but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out in the end.

Loki is now streaming on Disney+.
