Justice League Director Zack Snyder Confirms Plans to Helm a Star Wars Movie

A lot of people have been clamoring for Justice League director Zack Snyder to jump ship to a different franchise amid the growing animosity between him and Warner Bros. which has been brewing for years. It's safe to assume at this point that the director's time in the DC Extended Universe may have officially come to an end and it's only a matter of time before we see him actually turn up in either the Marvel or Star Wars franchises.

Apparently, Snyder may have come real close to directing a project under the Star Wars banner but sadly, it never really took off. In a recent conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the divisive filmmaker revealed that he was actually working on a potential project and even pitched the idea to Lucasfilm who unsurprisingly listened to the director's input.

However, Snyder didn't exactly disclose what kind of project it would have been and if it involved popular characters from the franchise. He shared: "Yeah… we talked about it but it never… you know. I've been working on it – just away from the Star Wars universe – just on my own, just as a sci-fi thing… It's still a sci-fi thing, it's the same story, just kind of now I let Star Wars be Star Wars and I'm just gonna… you know. The eleven-year-old me still wants to make that, now I just know how to – so maybe we'll see that someday."

The idea of Snyder actually taking on a Star Wars film sounds refreshing but expect him to receive backlash for it from diehard fans of the science-fiction epic. I mean, it's pretty understandable considering guys like J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson failed to take the Skywalker saga to exciting new heights but to tell you honestly, I think Zack's directorial style would somehow fit well in the franchise that pretty much relies heavily on visuals.

Meanwhile, the entire Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
