The year 2019's groundbreaking Batman spinoff film Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime was an emotional and psychological thrill ride and it gave fans a dark and dramatic retelling of Batman's most iconic foe. But long before the Oscar-winning film made its way to theaters, Batman: The Animated Series has been beloved by fans for producing heartwrenching episodes which tweaked its characters' origin stories.

One character who underwent a drastic change storywise in the '90s cartoon series is Mr. Freeze. His tragic BTAS, where he finds a cure for his cryogenically-frozen wife remains to this day the superior iteration of the villain. In fact, that story would later be adapted in film, video games, and even the comics continuity which only proves how great and powerful it was.

Now, Joker's producer Michael E. Uslan is suggesting a Joker-esque film that will be inspired by the Animated Series' retelling of the character. During his appearance at Wizard World's Batman to Joker panel (via CBR), Uslan said that he's a huge fan of the Emmy Award-winning "Heart of Ice" episode. "One of my favorite episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, which I love, absolutely love, dealt with Mr. Freeze and the loss of his wife," he said. Uslan added: "The empathy, the emotions that that created, I could see [making a movie]."

Mr. Freeze has become one of the most compelling characters in all of DC, thanks to the drastic and not to mention brilliant changes made to his character in BTAS. And if there's one character Todd Phillips' Joker style would work on, it's definitely Victor Fries. I also believe that it's about damn time we remove the bitter taste Arnold Schwarzenegger's horrendous and ultra-campy portrayal of Mr. Freeze left in our mouths. So yeah, I'm totally behind this idea. The only question is, who would be the perfect actor to give justice to Mr. Freeze?
