A lot of fans still enjoy reading and collecting physical copies of comic books but some people believe that it's a dying form of art that needs to be saved. The sudden rise of streaming services and other digital offerings has a lot of people worried about the future of comics and rumors suggest that companies like DC Comics and Marvel will fully embrace the digital age and stop printing physical comics in the near future.

Legendary comic book artist Jim Lee weighed in on the possibility of physical comics being phased out entirely and according to him, there's nothing to worry about. In fact, the DC Comics executive assured fans that the comic book giant will continue to publish physical copies of their titles despite the growing popularity of their digital counterparts.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the iconic Batman and X-Men artist addressed the said rumors and pretty much debunked them. He explains: "It's the furthest thing from the truth. If anything, it's the exact opposite. The comics that we publish, the core canon we establish in comics, is driving everything that we do across DC in media. We are constantly referring to the characters as we build DC beyond the publishing world."

Lee added that publishing is "vital" to the company's future. "He continued: You can't rest on our laurels and having an influx of new voices, new characters, new points of view is vital to keeping the industry healthy and representative of current times. It's mission one for us to make sure that universe we create and champion is reflective of the fanbase that loves our characters. So yes, it is the cornerstone of everything we do."

It can be argued that physical comic books aren't as popular as they were back in the day and many fans undoubtedly turn to digital sites to get their regular fix. Sure, the popularity of digital comics can be quite distressing to a lot of creators but I'm pretty positive companies like Marvel and DC will do everything in their power to keep things running.

Meanwhile. The Suicide Squad is now showing in cinemas. It will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.
