Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has been on hot water over the last couple of months following allegations of transphobia.
The renowned author has been arguing for quite some time now that transgender teens are being forced against their will to transition.
She also claims that transgender women are a threat to cis women.
Now, the author of Fantastic Beasts is coming out to say that a good percentage of her fans actually agree with her stand regarding the matter but according to her, they're just afraid to voice out their opinions in fear of jeopardizing their "personal safety".
In her latest interview with Good Housekeeping Magazine (via Pink News), the ever-so-outspoken and controversial Rowling has made yet another bold statement concerning transgender people.
She claims that 90% of the fan letters she's been receiving show support for her views regarding transgender people.
"Many are afraid to speak up because they fear for their jobs and even for their personal safety," she said, adding: "This climate of fear serves nobody well, least of all trans people."
The issue is quite sensitive and as much as I'd like to sound off amid the heated argument, I don't think I'm qualified enough to do so.
Meanwhile, it looks pretty obvious that J.K. will continue standing her ground even if it means losing legions of her supporters.
Hey, it's not like she has anything to lose now, right? Here's to hoping though that she'll be more mindful about airing her opinions on social media 'cause the "cancel police" are lurking somewhere.
Meanwhile, Fantastic Beasts 3 is slated for release in 2022.
