J.K. Rowling's controversial anti-trans remarks rocked the entire LGBTQ+ community when they first surfaced in 2019 and since then, the Harry Potter cast has expressed their disappointment over the author's opinions which offended a lot of folks not only in the community but outside of it as well.

Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Stone have been very vocal about their dismay over Rowling's choice words towards transgender people and they made it very clear that the author's opinion is totally wrong. Now, in a new interview, the Ron Weasly actor has once again opened up about the controversy and he remains firm on his views.

According to Grint himself, although he has a tremendous amount of respect for the renowned author and for what she's done for his Hollywood career, he still has the liberty to disagree with her opinions towards transgenders. In an interview with Esquire, Grint says: "I am hugely grateful [for] everything that she's done. I think that she's extremely talented, and I mean, clearly, her works are genius. But yeah, I think also you can have huge respect for someone and still disagree with things like that."

He added: "Sometimes silence is even louder. I felt like I had to because I think it was important to. I mean, I don't want to talk about all that… Generally, I'm not an authority on the subject. Just out of kindness, and just respecting people. I think it's a valuable group that I think needs standing up for."

While everyone's entitled to their own opinion, we shouldn't abuse the freedom of speech that we possess. And I totally believe that J.K. should've been more careful and responsible for the words she uttered considering a lot of people including the folks from the LGBTQ+ community used to look up to her. Anyway, mad props to guys like Rupert for standing up for the entire transgender community against people like Rowling.
