Despite the fact that he's been in the limelight for close to ten years now, there's no denying that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings can be considered Simu Liu's biggest break and his role as the titular Marvel hero will launch his career to the stratosphere. If anything, we all better get used to seeing the uber-talented and charismatic actor in the Marvel spotlight throughout Phase 4.

Apparently, a lot of people have been pronouncing the name of his Marvel character wrong all this time. Taking to Twitter, Simu, whose name is also no stranger to getting mispronounced by fans gave his followers a little lesson for Asian Heritage Month about how to properly pronounce Shang-Chi. As it turns out, it's supposed to be pronounced as "Shong-Chee" and not "Sh-ah-ng Chee" like a lot of us do.

In a subsequent tweet, the Kim's Convenience actor responded to a fan who apologized for mispronouncing the Marvel hero's name and revealed that he was once called "Semen" instead of Simu so he's actually no stranger to people "butchering" his name himself.

Now, fans won't have any problems with the correct pronunciation of the Master of Kung-Fu and even Simu's actual name. Check out his equally informative and hilarious tweets below:

Shang-Chi's arrival to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is exciting as heck but I'm pretty sure that Simu is carrying all the pressure in the world right now as not only is he making his debut in the billion-dollar franchise, he's also portraying Marvel's first Asian superhero and naturally, a lot of eyes are on him especially the Asian community. But hey, Liu has lobbied long and hard to get this opportunity so the chances of him actually blowing it are pretty slim.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will hit cinemas on September 3, 2021.
