Even Falcon Actor Anthony Mackie Has No Idea How the Avengers Get Paid

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's premiere episode has opened up a pretty interesting debate amongst Marvel fans regarding the Avengers' financial status. It all began when Episode 1 of the new MCU spinoff series made a stunning revelation that the Earth's Mightiest Heroes don't get paid for saving the world from all threats imaginable.

It even caused an uproar on Twitter where fans criticized the late Tony Stark for not paying his colleagues and looking after their financial stability. Now, Falcon actor Anthony Mackie is sounding off amid the "issue" and reveals that even he isn't exactly aware where the Avengers get their regular income from. In a conversation with TV Line, Mackie explains that he's always had the impression that Tony Stark has everything covered considering he's the richest and most influential guy in the team.

He explains: "It's interesting… I always ask the question: 'When the Avengers show up, they destroy whole cities and crush people, and what do they do for a living? Where does their money come from?' I always believed it was Tony Stark because, obviously, he owns an Audi dealership somewhere."

Mackie would later state that the Avengers are doing what they do to ensure the safety of the universe and not for personal gain. "I think they do it for the betterment of the world, for saving people's lives. They have their ins and outs, their odd jobs to make sure that they're taken care of — government sponsorship, funding, government housing."

It's sad to realize that the Avengers apparently aren't compensated well enough for risking their lives trying to save the world from danger but I guess that's the harsh reality of being a superhero. And hey, regardless if they get compensated or not, taking a page out of Thor's playbook, that's what heroes do, right? They don't ask for anything in return.
