I think I speak for a lot of Star Wars fans when I say that Disney's divisive sequel trilogy left a bad taste in their mouths and if they had their way with things, they'd have no problems with all three films — The Force AwakensThe Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker being disregarded from the official canon. Earlier this year, rumors circulated online that the House of Mouse will in fact reboot the sequel trilogy and it had the entire fandom rejoicing.

However, nothing really came out of that rumor but that didn't stop fans from wishing that Disney would actually consider rebooting Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. Now, Overlord DVD's Doomcock, the same guy who reported last January that the sequel trilogy was being erased is back with another scoop. This time around, he brought in Hollywood insider Kamran Pasha who said that the reboot is happening and in fact, it’s “already in motion”.

The biggest shocker from the new report is that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are rumored to be spearheading the movement. Of course, just like any rumor, take this one with a Death Star-sized grain of salt but this news is definitely music to the ears of the sequel trilogy's critics.

Now, assuming Disney does in fact erase the sequels from existence, this doesn't exactly mean that the already established characters from Episodes VII to IX are going to be disregarded altogether. If anything, it would be the perfect opportunity for Lucasfilm to go back to the drawing board and reintroduce Rey, Finn, Poe, and the others to the franchise in a more compelling manner. That's not to say though that I'm buying into the new rumor because seeing is believing.

Meanwhile, the entire Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
