Avengers: Endgame seemingly saw the final goodbye of Chris Evans as Captain America after returning to the present day as an older version of himself and passing on the vibranium shield to his longtime ally Sam Wilson aka The Falcon but you know, you gotta expect the unexpected when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a shocking turn of events, Deadline is reporting that Evans could be coming back to the billion-dollar franchise real soon. According to their scoop, the Steve Rogers actor is currently negotiating a brand new deal with Marvel Studios which would see him back as Captain America in a future project. The folks over at Marvel declined to give a comment.

Evans has been vocal about his desire to move on from the MCU following his Endgame exit but I guess the superhero gig is never truly over especially for guys like him who have become a symbol of hope and inspiration to a lot of fans. Now, this exciting new development could also open the doors for another Marvel actor to make his unexpected return to the franchise — I'm talking about none other than Robert Downey Jr. aka Iron Man.

As for Evans' mystery project, what do you think it could be? Is he set to make his return as the star-spangled hero in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a Cap from a different universe, or will he continue playing Old Man Rogers? The possibilities are endless, not to mention intriguing. Let's wait and see what happens next.

Meanwhile, the MCU's Phase 4 begins tomorrow in WandaVision.
