The original Blade trilogy starring Wesley Snipes is still revered by comic book fans as one of the best Marvel films to date that is non-MCU but it's not without controversy as Snipes has actually been accused in the past of being an on-set "diva" and hard to work with. Now, 16 years following his last outing as the iconic Marvel daywalker, Snipes is coming out to deny allegations that were once thrown at him. The said accusations came from one of his co-stars Patton Oswalt who claimed that Snipes was violent on-set, often smokes weed and assaulted the film's director David S. Goyer.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Snipes opened up about the allegations and denied them right off the bat. "Let me tell you one thing. If I had tried to strangle David Goyer, you probably wouldn't be talking to me now. A black guy with muscles strangling the director of a movie is going to jail, I guarantee you," he explained. He later slammed Oswalt for spreading negative news about him which affected his image. "This is part of the challenges that we as African Americans face here in America — these microaggressions. The presumption that one white guy can make a statement and that statement stands as true! Why would people believe his version is true? Because they are predisposed to believing the black guy is always the problem. And all it takes is one person, Mr. Oswalt, who I really don't know. I can barely remember him on the set, but it's fascinating that his statement alone was enough to make people go: 'Yeah, you know Snipes has got a problem.'"

Snipes seems to be unfazed by the rumors swirling online regarding his time in the Marvel franchise and I gotta say, it's pretty admirable how he keeps his cool amid all the nasty allegations. Now, he's set to pass on the Blade mantle to Mahershala Ali who has been tapped to play the ruthless daywalker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We still don't know, of course, how he'll fare in the MCU but if he brings in the same edge and intensity Snipes brought to the character which he pretty much made his own, then I smell great things for the reboot. I'm genuinely stoked about it.

No release date has been announced for the MCU's Blade reboot but it is in active development.
