Black Panther 2: MCU Fans Want Michaela Coel to Play Storm After Casting Announcement

The upcoming Black Panther sequel has been shrouded by mystery over the last year following the jaw-dropping passing of Chadwick Boseman. At one point, the future of the franchise seemed to be in doubt but Marvel Studios pretty much confirmed earlier this year that they're moving forward with the project now titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Now, the film is once again surrounding by intrigue with the addition of I May Destroy You actress Michaela Coel.

Variety first broke the news that the 33-year-old British star has been cast in the project which began production last month. Key details about her casting are being kept under wraps but the entertainment website's sources claim that Coel has joined director Ryan Coogler at Atlanta's Pinewood Studios where the sequel will be filmed.

It's still a little too early to tell which character Coel will end up playing in Wakanda Forever but diehard MCU fans believe the actress will be the perfect casting choice to play the franchise's Ororo Munroe aka Storm. Thinking about it now, I'm actually quite sold on the idea. Check out some of the reactions here:

Given Storm's rich history with T'Challa, it would make absolute sense for the character to make her official MCU debut in Black Panther 2. It's a shame though that we'll never get to see the two characters who have been portrayed as love interests in the comics together on the big screen.

Now, with the X-Men set for their grand MCU arrival after Phase Four, the most logical thing to do is to slowly introduce the mutants to the franchise before actually teaming up.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits cinemas in 2022.
