The entire Marvel fandom exploded when several news outlets reported last week that both Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have signed on to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third Spider-Man film. Fans obviously are pretty familiar with the duo who starred in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man franchise from 2012-2014. The two became lovers on-and-off screen and although they've gone their separate ways, a potential reunion between the two could be happening real soon.

Say what you will about TASMs 1 & 2 but it can't be denied that Garfield and Stone had tremendous chemistry as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy and it surely translated on screen. Of course, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 saw the tragic death of Emma's character at the hands of the Green Goblin and it's pretty safe to assume at this point that should Emma indeed be part of the project, she'll be a different version of the character, possibly Spider-Gwen.

The potential reunion between the ex-lovers excites a lot of fans and digital artist @ultraraw26 on Instagram is hyping it up by sharing his spectacular artwork featuring Andrew and Emma as their Spidey counterparts.

We've yet to get confirmation from both Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures regarding the official and final cast of Spider-Man 3 but if guys like Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina are appearing in the film to reprise their villainous roles, I'm pretty convinced that the rumors surrounding Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Tobey Maguire, and Kirsten Dunst's respective returns are true. The anticipation is killing me, to be honest.

Spider-Man 3 is hitting cinemas in December 2021.
