Trailer for Netflix’s Over the Moon is a Visual Delight

While Netflix does produce live-action films, they have also been a platform for some great animated movies as well. After last year's Klaus, we now have a trailer for a new animated movie called Over the Moon, and the visuals are nothing short of stunning.

Here's the logline: Fueled with determination and a passion for science, a bright young girl builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess.

The movie is being directed by Glen Keane who has worked as a supervising animator on Disney classics like Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Tangled, and Treasure Planet. The movie also has members of the cast including Cathy Ang, Ken Heong, John Cho, Kimiko Glenn, and Margaret Cho.

I have to say, though the premise was kind of silly at first, the "magic" really kicks in at the end where it's revealed that the main character does make it to the moon, but it's full of a lot of fantastic and colorful creatures. I don't really know what legend the movie is based on, but I'm guessing it comes from The Tale of Princess Kaguya which is about a woman who is transported to the moon against her will.

Looking at this movie, it kind of feels a lot like Coco what with the story dealing with Death, and at the same time embracing a certain culture—this one being based on Asian culture.

The movie looks fantastic, and I can't wait to check it out. Catch Over the Moon when it released on Netflix this fall.
