Though Pokemon may be the dominating franchise, Digimon was another popular thing we got back in the 90s. With the franchise celebrating 20 years, we now have a new trailer for an upcoming movie, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.

The movie comes with a tagline “This is Taichi and Agumon's last adventure,” and we get to see the adult versions of the original DigiDestined Taichi (Tai), Yamato (Matt) and the rest. You can see that the film is definitely banking on nostalgia, seeing as the kids who grew up watching the show are probably the same age that the original gang is now.

They even found a way to incorporate the original intro:

What’s more, it also looks like we’re going to get appearances from the new DigiDestined as well. I’ll admit, I didn’t really follow the series after the first generation, but I’m sure there’s another wave of fans who will be happy to see all these older characters come back.

As for the story, the DigiDestined are now facing a threat that could potentially destroy their connections to the Digimon forever. Like the old show, it looks Taichi and Matt are going to be at the center of the scuffle again, and it looks like we’re going to literally get a “Last Evolution” for both their Digimon when it comes to this film.

Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, and is set for a release on Feb. 21, 2020.
