The Final Trailer for Joker is Absolute Madness

As promised, today, we're going to be getting a new trailer for Todd Phillips' Joker, and apparently, it's the final one. Watch Joaquin Phoenix go absolutely crazy in this latest preview.

Director Todd Phillips "Joker" centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips' exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham's fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Though I personally loved the first teaser more, this final trailer does give us a lot more of the story. For one, we actually get a look at Arthur Fleck's condition where he gets uncontrollable laughter, and the trailer seems to confirm that his mother does indeed end up in the hospital.

What's also interesting is we get to see Arthur get lost in the Joker persona, and we watch him revel at the crowds have come together because of him. It even looks like he's forced himself into Robert De Niro's character's show, (just like in King of Comedy), and that's where we get to hear him call himself the Joker.

The film looks absolutely insane, and I'm really excited about this darker character study moving forward. I mean, Aquaman and Shazam! are fun, but not every comic book film has to end up like an MCU entry.

Catch Joker in theaters Oct. 4.
