The DC Cinematic Multi-Verse will be 'Born' Out of The Flash

Time travel has been something that's been heavily speculated for The Flash, but with Michael Keaton reprising Batman for the film, we have confirmation that the movie will be leaning into a Multi-Verse concept. While a multi-verse has been hinted with films like Joker and The Batman, it will apparently be officially introduced in the Flash solo movie.

During the DC FanDome panel for the film, screenwriter Christina Hodson confirms, "The cinematic multi-verse is going to be born out of this movie. It's born out of Barry's story." What's interesting is, while Hodson is saying this, we get clips of older DC-based projects like Constantine, Watchmen, and the several other versions of Superman and Batman.

I have to say, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse really opened doors for the concept of a multi-verse in a blockbuster film, but now DC is taking it a bit further by allowing several iterations of the same character to exist in the canon. I mean, Marvel may be the lead when it comes to box office gross, but it's these more experimental concepts that manage to keep DC films feeling fresher.

We don't know when we'll get our next look at The Flash, but production is hopefully going to start soon. Admittedly the movie would have already started shooting if it weren't for COVID-19, but with productions slowly getting back on its feet, I have a feeling the Fastest Man Alive is going to follow suit soon.

The Flash is set for a release on June 2, 2022.
