Temuera Morrison had 'Lost Hope' for Boba Fett Return Until The Mandalorian

A lot of fans celebrated when Temuera Morrison made a short appearance as Boba Fett in the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2, and Boba eventually took the spotlight in last week's episode of the show. What's interesting is Morrison had actually been hoping for a Star Wars comeback for a while, and he didn't think it was possible until last year.

Talking to StarWars.com, Morrison explains how he ‘kind of lost hope' for a Boba Fett comeback, until Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni invited him for a meeting back In August 2019. He says:

"I went to have a meeting at their office, and I was put in a room to wait. I got there quite early because I was excited, I didn't want to be late… While I was waiting, I was looking at some of the conceptual drawings on the wall, and I suddenly saw an image of a guy that looked like me. I said, ‘Jeez, I'm sure that's me there.' But I didn't want to get too excited."

Of course, we found out that he was up for a Star Wars comeback, and a lot of fans celebrated when Boba finally got his armor back and unleashed hell on some troopers. While some fans have been complaining about Boba's apparent weight gain in the old armor, Morrison said that it only took Filoni and Favreau's expressions to make him confident that he was pulling it off. Morrison continues:

"There were moments when I put the armor on and I was looking at [executive producers] Dave [Filoni] and Jon [Favreau], and the expression on their faces just said it all… It felt good. It felt right. It felt like, ‘Yes, I should be wearing this costume.' And it gave me this sense of, ‘I'm back.'"

We don't know how much more Boba is going to be on the show, but it looks like he's going to be part of the team that frees Grogu from Moff Gideon. Some are actually afraid that Boba will die on the mission, leaving the Slave I to Din, but hopefully, Lucasfilm plans to keep him around for longer, seeing that we only really got him back now after all those years of speculation.

For now, people wait for the next episode of The Mandalorian which comes out this Friday on Disney+.
