Suicide Squad Originally had an Opening Scene with Slipknot

If there was one character everyone was sure was going to die in Suicide Squad, it was definitely Adam Beach's Slipknot. He basically got sidelined for the entire film, but as it turns out, he was supposed to have a scene that would actually open the film.

With all the buzz of #ReleaseTheAyerCut after the Snyder Cut announcement, a fan had asked Ayer what other scenes Slipknot would have been in. It was Adam Beach himself who revealed that he was supposed to be part of an opening sequence. Here's the post:

In the original cut of the film, Slipknot is introduced during the scene here the Squad suits up, and he is the first one to die after an escape attempt. If you ask me, opening the film with him would have made the character feel less like a prop, and it would have really felt like the stakes were raised when we get to watch him die.

Rumor has it that Slipknot was supposed to be the most degenerate out of all the other members. It was said that it was implied that he was a serial rapist, and maybe that could have been what the opening scene was about. Either way, it was made so that the audience won't be so bummed out if he had his head blown off.

While I think it's too early to be asking for an Ayer Cut, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see this version of the film. If anything, I'm sure the reception for Zack Snyder's Justice League will be a catalyst on whether we'll see this version of the movie or not.

James Gunn's reboot/sequel, The Suicide Squad, is set to come out on Aug. 6, 2021.
