Streaming Wars: HBO Max will be Accessible Through Youtube TV

HBO is set to join the streaming wars with HBO Max, and the platform is set to launch this coming May. What's interesting is that HBO has struck a new deal with Youtube that will allow the latter to distribute the upcoming platform.

According to The Wrap, Youtube TV will be one the first distributors of HBO Max. Youtube TV subscribers will be able to add HBO Max to their subscriptions. What's more is, HBO and Cinemax will be available to users on Youtube TV; if you want to access HBO Max though, you'll have to keep to the HBO Max platform. Users will be able to log-in HBO Max with their Youtube account, and the payment for HBO Max will be added to their Youtube bill.

President of WarnerMedia Distribution Rich Warren had this to say:

"As consumers' media consumption habits continually evolve and the landscape becomes more and more dynamic, our goal remains constant, and that is to make the portfolio of WarnerMedia networks available as widely as possible… YouTube has been a valued partner for a number of years, and we're pleased to not only extend our existing agreement, but also make HBO and Cinemax – and soon HBO Max – available to YouTube TV customers for the first time."

This isn't the first time streaming services have teamed-up either. Back when Disney+ launched, it was announced as an available add-on for Hulu. It will be interesting to see how HBO manages to change the game, seeing as they have some top content. Unlike Disney+ though, HBO Max comes with a hefty paycheck of $14.99 a month.

No specific release date has been announced, but HBO Max is aiming to launch this May.
