Stranger Things Actress Natalia Dyer Thinks Her Co-Stars are Oversexualized

After Netflix had just got into some huge controversy with the marketing for Cuties, one of their stars has come out to talk about how they think a lot of actresses in their industry have been oversexualized.

Talking "cautiously" to The Independent, Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer says about her co-stars, "There are so many layers going on here... I generally feel like, to me, [the media and fans are] oversexualizing them."

While Dyer didn't point out specifically which of her co-stars was being sexualized, she does say that she is watching out for her much younger co-workers. She continues:

"I feel protective over the younger kids even though they're not kids anymore, they're teens. They're all great people and all having to grow up in very crazy circumstances. As a private person, I just feel like, leave people alone – unless you're talking about their work or what they want to talk about. It's a very tricky and complex issue."

It's very timely that Dyer would make these comments, seeing that Netflix is currently under fire for trying to sell a movie by sexualizing young kids. Even Dyer's co-star Millie Bobby Brown had written earlier in the year that she was dealing with ‘inappropriate comments' and ‘sexualization.'

While Netflix has already apologized for inappropriate marketing, everyone is still pretty much outraged about it. Personally, I just feel bad for Cuties director Maïmouna Doucouré who is now being bashed for what looks to be an honest coming-of-age drama. Netflix definitely owes her damages for potentially ruining her career with one poster.

As for Dyer, she's expected to make a return to Stranger Things which will hopefully be back sometime in 2021.
