Stephen Colbert Asks Anthony Mackie if He Can be the New Falcon

We all know that Anthony Mackie will be the new Captain America of the MCU, but a question that not too many people are asking is, "Who will be the new Falcon?" Apparently, Stephen Colbert wants in on the superhero fame.

Watch his recent interview with Mackie. The bit starts at 7:50:

Admittedly, Sam Wilson was the only one who kept the Falcon mantle, and it never really felt like he needed a replacement. After all, Wilson's Captain America still makes use of the wings, so rather than just being the new Cap, he kind of morphed the Falcon and Cap personas together.

What I'm curious about though, is whether the MCU will turn Sam into a super-soldier like Steve Rogers. While Sam is a competent soldier on his own, he's admittedly not as sturdy as Steve. Then again, it could be another statement that Sam is an all-natural soldier rather than one that's buffed up with special steroids.

For now, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is still undergoing production, but Mackie himself confirms that shooting is nearly done. With this show being the first of many Marvel mini-series, the pressure is on for Bucky and Sam to deliver something on the same level of awe as a Marvel solo movie.

No specific release date has been announced for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but the show is expected to debut on Disney+ this August.
