Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Comic Cancelled by Marvel

Every Star Wars movie entry has had a comic adaptation, and back in February, Marvel had announced that they were making one for The Rise of Skywalker. Unfortunately, for anyone waiting for more news about it, the series seem to have been canceled.

According to @PREVIEWSworld (via Star Wars Splash Page), the Rise of Skywalker comic, which was supposed to come out in June, has been canceled by Marvel along with The Rise of Kylo Ren #4. Here's the post:

We don't have any official reason as to why the series had been canceled, but it's possible that it has something to do with the ongoing pandemic. It is also possible that Marvel could release it next year if the virus has died down by then, but in the meantime, we shouldn't expect the comic to come out any time soon.

Admittedly, Star Wars has been entering a bit of a slump since the release of TROS. Even until now, Disney and Lucasfilm seem to be brushing the movie under the mat, what with the lack of merchandise surrounding the film as well as supplementary material. For now, the big focus is just on The Mandalorian Season 2.

Though I'm not the biggest fan of TROS, some people actually look to the comics to ‘fix' some errors that were in the films. A lot of people had actually liked the Last Jedi comic because it explains a lot of other elements. It was expected that the same would be done from TROS. Too bad we won't get our answers until Marvel decides to release the comic—whenever that is.

In the meantime, you can catch the second season of The Mandalorian now on Disney+.
