Russia Invades the US in Opening Scene for The Umbrella Academy Season 2

Netflix is set to debut the second season of The Umbrella Academy by the end of the month, and since the 31st is only a few days away, they've decided to release the opening scene of Season 2.

Check it out:

It looks like the siblings may have caused even more chaos by traveling back and it looks like relations between Russia and the US have escalated into an all-out war. While Five is the one that we meet first, it looks like he'll be the last one arriving from the time jump, and he will have to find a way to undo everything all over again.

I have to say, I've always thought that The Umbrella Academy comic was just ‘gothic X-Men' and the show hasn't changed my opinion about it. Then again, Netflix has found a hit with their adaptation and I'm eager to see what's in store for the sequel.

While I think some moments could get rather corny, I have to applaud the song choices because they are nothing short of great. Let's hope we get a great soundtrack for the second season as well.

Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya's 2019 apocalypse was risky. Well, he was right - the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960. Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they're the only ones who survived. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which - spoiler alert! - turns out is a result of the group's disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?). Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 debuts on Netflix this July 31.
